Desmond Greaves’s contribution to Civil Rights in Northern Ireland – a biographical account

Dr Michael Quinn - is currently writing a biography of Desmond Greaves; author of “Irish-Soviet Diplomatic and Friendship Relations 1917-1991”.

Chair

Daltún O’Ceallaigh - writer on history, philosophy and politics. Former General Secretary of Irish Federation of University Teachers. Was active in the Northern Ireland Civil Rights Association.

Dr Helena Sheehan - has been active in Left-wing politics since the 1960’s. Professor Emeritus at DCU. Was a Visiting Professor at the University of Cape Town. Historian of science, philosophy, culture and politics.

Mick O’Reilly - former Irish Secretary of the ATGWU, now UNITE; author of From Lucifer to Lazarus, a Life on the Left; committee member of the Greaves Weekend School.

Towards a Multipolar World

Dr Karen Devine - is a Lecturer in International Relations at DCU. She is author of numerous articles on EU politics and Irish defence and foreign policy. She is an authority on Irish neutrality policy and also writes on gender and education issues.
Horst Teuber - is an editor with the German Foreign Policy Group providing specialist news and analysis of developments in Germany and the EU from a democratic and internationalist perspective.

Chair

John Maguire - retired Professor of Sociology at University College Cork. Peace and international development activist of long standing. Has written works on Irish defence policy in the context of EU militarization.
